The lion, tempted, agreed. Trusting Dholi’s “wisdom,” he followed the jackal to a herd of elephants.
Dholi tilted his head. “Oh, but you are strong, yet you are starving . If you follow me , I’ll take you to a herd of elephants—weak, sickly, and easy prey.”
“Why, mighty King of the Jungle,” the jackal purred, “if you let me lead you, we can defeat any rival!” The lion grumbled, “But I am strong—why need a servant?”
“Attack now!” Dholi cried. But the lion hesitated. “You fool!” he roared. “They’re ten times your size!”
